About Us – FAQs

Welcome to the team!  This is a Junior Olympic Program overseen by the USATF (United States Track and Field).  We are a nonprofit organization that focuses on teaching athletes to be successful on and off the field.

‘On Track’ lives up to its name; keeping coaches, athletes, parents, and volunteers accountable.

This program is geared toward youth from 6-18 years of age who are interested in running either track and field or cross country.

Our team trains and races many events from the 100-yard dash to the 2-mile run. This includes: the 100, 200, and 400-yard dash; Distances ranging from 800, 1500, to 3000 meters; Cross country races up to 2 miles; and field events such as shot put, javelin, turbo javelin, long and triple jump. Depending on age and availability some athletes may also be able to compete in the decathlon.

USATF divides athletes into divisions by age and gender: 8 and under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, and 17-18 years of age. This means your child will be training and competing with youth their own age.

The Track and Field season begins on March 13th.  Practices will be meeting at Jacksonville High School on Monday/Wednesday from 6-7:30 pm.

Cross Country season starts at the end of August and runs thru the middle of November.  Practices are held Tuesday/Thursday from 6-7:30 pm.

See our events page for updates to our schedule.

Registration will be on the first day of practice.  This will be our “Ice Breaker” get together.  We will have a small practice and look for feedback from everyone, kids and parents alike.  We literally want this to be a win/win experience for everyone.  IT’S NEVER TOO LATE!  Feel free to come by any of our practices and meet with our coaches.

Registration papers can be downloaded on our website, or you can contact one of our coaches and we will be sure to have the papers you need to get started at our next practice.

Our cost is $110.00 per athlete/per season.  This covers the required USATF annual membership and up to seven meets. Meets cost and average $10-15 each.  Seasons are: Track and Field from March thru June; and Cross Country from August thru November.

As mentioned, this is a nonprofit running club.  With your help and support of our community, we would like to have this club self-supported.  That means free to all athletes and volunteers.  So please, help if you can and pass on the word to anyone willing to help in any way, businesses and people alike.  Thank you!

We want our athletes doing what they enjoy!  Most Track and Field events allow children to register for up to three events.  After evaluating our team during the first couple of practices, our coaches will recommend events that each athlete may have a natural talent in, and more importantly, seek to find out which events your child enjoys competing in.  With input from the child and their parents, we will come up with a win/win solution.

At the end of each season, we will come together as a team and recognize each athletes’ strengths and the growth they have made.

See you at practice!
